Founded in 1978, E&O Laboratories has grown from a specialist supplier of sterile animal blood products into an international manufacturer of microbiological culture media, diagnostic reagents and laboratory consumables.

Founded: “Equine & Ovine Blood Products” family partnership - harvesting donor Horse and Sheep whole blood
1989
E&O Laboratories Ltd – Direct supply of donor animal blood products and related sera to bacteriology laboratories throughout the UK
1995
Diversification into the manufacture of ready-to-use culture media, both bottled and plated. Supplying all diagnostic industry sectors
2012
New R&D laboratory and further diversification in manufacturing, milling/blending of Dehydrated Culture Media and related formulation validation
2017
Opening of our second cGMP facility and at Westfield. Large scale product line manufacture and all cold storage pick-pack and shipping hub
2020
COVID-19 diversification into Virology reagents and Swab Kits
2024
New shipping hub opened in Reading, servicing the south of England and south Wales

E&O transitioned to an "Employee Ownership Trust" in 2024, with 62.5% of the company’s shares gifted from the founder to its employees.
This structure gives our "ONE TEAM" a direct stake in the company’s success and a voice in its future. Shared ownership strengthens accountability, long-term planning and investment in our staff, aligning business growth and sustainable practices and community responsibility.
